The helmet came nicely wrapped and without any scratches. Although it already came assembled, the 2 upper chin strap retainers were set up at different heights, so I had to disassemble it and put them evenly. Also, some of the multi-cam pads are already peeling out even though it's brand new. The velcro attached to the cushion pads do not completely match with all the velcro inside of the helmet, although they seem to hold on good enough. Just minor details here and there, but other than that, it seems like a solid helmet, and very lightweight too!

Lightweight and comfortable pads but a couple quirks

I like the decrease in weight on the helmet compared to my last gen ATE. The new pads are also great, but mine are not sticking to the helmet very well and keep falling out. I would have expected better for dropping this much money on a helmet. The straps are also very strange. In order to get decent fitment I basically have to max out the adjustment on the left side and only tighten the other side a little. The straps also do not sit symmetrically on my face. The right side is way forward, almost near my eye, while the left side is back farther. I've never had a strap system fit like this and honestly I don't like it. I think it's due to the oddball placement of the chinstrap latch that it's not symmetrical. I want to really like HHV products but they make such weird design decisions and have poor attention to detail.

Zachary, shoot us an email please with a few photos of what you have going on and we will get you taken care of! For the pads, might just need to send you some more velcro, and on the chin-strap you may want to adjust which hole the straps are located to get a symmetrical fit!

Good helmet but 'lefties' beware!

If you're left handed, read first!

TLDR: Yes, I would buy from them again.

My review might be slightly biased as I'm one of the 10%'ers of the world (left handed). That comes into play with the head harness, buckle. Unfortunately, HHV doesn't make a harness to put the buckle on the right side of the face (to get a good cheek-weld). And us lefties aren't going to get one with that big-*** buckle in the way. That is really unfortunate as the solution is simple. The plastic for the ratchet system simply needs to be mirrored, and BAM, lefties rejoice! So, us lefties must spend more $ and time to get an overpriced harness (looking at you Ops-Core) that will accommodate us. Huge deal? Yes, simple, inexpensive solution? Also, yes.

Lastly, (a minor gripe) some of the velcro loop for the padding were so off in their placement they completely missed the hook part. An easy fix though-I just repositioned the loop. (chalking that up to it being made on either a Friday or Monday maybe ;). Happy to support a veteran owned business, but they just need a little more focus on that front sight post.

I have the gen 2 it's great, now with my new ATE LITE, perfection in s.west texas heat. I don't get neck aches or headaches with prolonged time on my dome. The new ratchet strap retention system is awesome and I really enjoy the new crazy padding system, you can feel the air flow in the helmet, it's such a relief in the summer in south Texas.
